Mobile device protection vendor Pradeo Security Systems is now offering its threat detection capability for handsets from Samsung running the manufacturer’s enterprise Knox security platform.
The companies made the announcement Tuesday, saying Pradeo Security for Samsung enhances corporate mobile device security while preserving users’ ability to remain productive.
Knox is a hardware-based platform for Samsung’s Android devices that protects the operating system’s kernel and gives administrators the ability to create a trusted zone for enterprise applications and data.
Pradeo’s software watches the network, mobile applications and the operating system to detect unusual behavior. When spotted, the behavior is stopped through Knox.
In an interview Stephane Saad, Pradeo’s chief strategic alliance officer said the companies have had a partnership since 2015. “Now we have developed a common solution that will be pushed by both Praedo and Samsung teams.”
It will also be available through carriers selling enterprise solutions. So far no Canadian carrier offers the package.
“The incorporation of our cutting-edge security technology with the best-in-class Samsung mobile devices brings a whole new level protection to enterprise customers,” Saad said.
Pradeo is headquartered in France, with offices in San Franciso and London.
The company also has a solution tailored for the Atos Hoox secure handset for business.
In addition, its management software integrates with mobile device management suites from Canada’s SOTI, Vmware’s Airwatch, IBM’s MaaS360, MobileIron and Microsoft EMS.
The Pradeo Security for Samsung solution involves installing an app on a device that scans applications for risky behavior, screens network configuration and parameters and monitors device integrity. It leverages the integration with enterprise mobile device management solutions (EMM/MDM) to manage devices’ compliance.
It’s through the link with Knox that abnormal app behavior can be killed, without deleting the app. So, Saad said, if a malicious app tries to copy and send a users’ contact list to a suspicious site access is denied, but the contact list isn’t deleted.
If an organization doesn’t have a mobile device management solution Pradeo’s management suite provides basic capabilities.
